Blisland village is famous for having the only village green in Cornwall and moreover for its CAMRA award winning pub, The Blisland Inn (7 mins walk). The poet John Betjeman admired enormously the village and its church, St Protus and St Hyacinth, about which he wrote extensively. There is also a great village shop with an internet café.
Best beaches – there are fantastic beaches on both North and South Coasts. On the north coast our favourites are Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Constantine Bay and Harlyn Bay and on the south Lantic Bay. Two good sites to look up are Cornish Light and Cornwall District Council
Gardens open to the public – Cornish gardens are truly spectacular due to the special climate. Spring is a particularly good time but you will need to check guides for opening times or ask us. For more information on gardens in Cornwall look at Gardens in Cornwall, Tour UK and Cornish Light. Also do not forget the world famous Eden Project near St Austell and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Bodmin Moor – Wonderful walks and neolithic ruins. The Bodmin Moor guide is fantastic.
Golf Courses – for keen golfers there are some great courses to really test top level players. For a comprehensive list try Golfing in Cornwall.
Restaurants and Pubs – many of the nearby villages have great pubs/restaurants. We would particularly recommend the following:
St Kew Inn, St Kew
The Old Inn, St Breward
Maltsters Arms, Chapel Amble
On the north coast Port Isaac (9 miles) has several good restaurants. Padstow (14 miles) also has many restaurants including Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, St. Petroc's Bistro and Rick's Café. |
